West Palm's second convention hotel advances, with a legal challenge
The county approved a deal for a 400-room Curio hotel, while neighborhood groups challenged the city's approvals.
Palm Beach County approved a development deal for Related Ross's planned 18-story, 400-room Curio Collection hotel beside the convention center. Stet News reported on October 3 that the project included two restaurants and nearly 21,000 square feet of event space, with building permits still under review. Neighborhood groups had also filed a court challenge to the city's approvals. These are separate milestones: the county deal does not establish that construction has begun.
More convention rooms could support larger groups and additional dining demand, but the timing remains important. Hotel and restaurant operators should track permits, the legal process and booked convention business separately. Build any off-site dining offer around actual group inquiries rather than projected economic-impact totals.
