Fort Lauderdale approves a revised 340-home plan in Cypress Creek
Affiliated Development's proposal lowers the building to eight stories and increases the number of apartments with below-market rents.
Fort Lauderdale commissioners approved a revised plan for The Cypress at 400 North Corporate Drive, according to The Real Deal. Affiliated Development is under contract to buy the site beside the Westin hotel, which would remain. The apartment count stays at 340, while the building drops from 12 to eight stories and the below-market component rises to 136 homes. The developer said vertical construction was expected to begin in about a year.
Additional housing near an employment district can support more regular evening trade, rather than lunch alone. Operators should assess likely resident budgets and the walking route to their doors. For employers, the housing component is worth watching, but availability and eligibility need checking before it becomes part of a recruiting pitch.
