Velvet Taco closes its downtown Fort Lauderdale location
The chain confirmed the permanent closure of its first Florida restaurant near the Andrews Avenue drawbridge.
Velvet Taco has closed at 305 South Andrews Avenue, Suite 115, after roughly three years in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The company confirmed the closure to the Sun Sentinel, which also documented notices on the doors. The restaurant was beside The Wharf and served a broad menu of tacos. The report did not establish why the location closed.
Our read
A chain's departure is a reason to study the site, not a conclusion about the whole neighborhood. Review pedestrian access, nearby evening traffic and the sales needed to cover occupancy costs. Any potential replacement should verify the space's availability directly before planning a takeover.
